Community-based tourism is a growing market, as new generations of travellers worldwide seek more meaningful experiences from their leisure time. Sharubu Safaris believes it is an opportunity for Tanzania, a country which boasts a wealth of natural beauty, cultural and spiritual heritage and fascinating multi-ethnic communities in addition to the traditional appeal of her national park and islands.

Adventure Safaris and site-seeing tourism is vital to Tanzania’s economy but, some argue, it does not always benefit and engage the communities which surround the hotels.

Sharubu Adventure Safaris is designed to empower, engage and financially sustain communities without in any way compromising their traditions, values and way of life. At the same time, each site and experience is conceived, developed and marketed to ensure its appeal and accessibility to the visitors and, in turn, its sustainability in benefiting the community.

Community Tourism products and services are geared to address these trends and to satisfy the interests of emerging travel markets. Key clientele includes:
• The mature market
• Study and Research groups, including schools, universities, colleges and research based organizations
• Church groups
• Environmentalists, botanist, ornithologists and nature lovers
• The independent traveler

The vision of Community Tourism is to expose the local resources and talents, and make the concept a reality for local people. Community Tourism embraces eco-tourism, cultural tourism, adventure tourism, recreational tourism, geo-tourism, heritage tourism, health tourism, farm tourism and all the popular special interest tourism.
